Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is supported by the appropriate use of standardized outcome measures (OMs). Continuing education (CE) is a common method for translation of OMs knowledge to practice. However, little is known about the attitudes and behaviors of physical therapists regarding CE and knowledge translation (KT) of OMs. Purpose: To determine physical therapists' practice style traits (PSTs) and compare these to attitudes, knowledge, behaviors, and barriers for KT. Subjects and Methods: Seventy-nine physical therapists who attended a CE course on OMs completed two standardized surveys. The Practice Style Questionnaire (PSQ) categorizes responses on three theoretical constructs: 1. how clinician weighs research evidence versus experience, 2. their degree of comfort in clinical practice, and 3. how evidence impacts their workload. The EBP Questionnaire (EBPQ) items are grouped into four domains: attitude, knowledge, behavior, and barriers. Results: On the PSQ, 28% of subjects were categorized as "seekers" of evidence, 49% were "pragmatists," and 23% were "receptives." PSTs scores were compared to the four domains of the EBPQ. Behavior was the only domain found to be significant between traits (p = 0.00). Seekers were significantly different from both the pragmatists and receptives in their behaviors, however pragmatists and receptives did not differ. Discussion and Conclusion: Assessing PSTs may help tailor KT interventions. Since nearly half of clinicians are pragmatists, it may be helpful to target KT interventions to this group, while considering the needs of other styles.

The aim of this research is to develop a scale for determining pre-service teachers' attitudes towards recycling. The research was carried out using a quantitative research design. The research was carried out in the education faculties of two state universities located in the east and west of Türkiye. 284 pre-service teachers (62 males, 222 females) who were selected by the easily accessible sampling method participated in the research. During the scale development process, an item pool consisting of 56 statements was created. The draft scale, which was prepared after the expert opinion, was applied to the pre-service teachers. After validity and reliability analysis, three factors with 32 items were obtained, which explained 42.456% of the total variance. The factors were named "Responsibility and Behavior," "Consciousness and Awareness," and "Economic Value", respectively. The Cronbach"s Alpha coefficient was calculated as 0.893 for the "Responsibility and Behavior" factor, 0.785 for the "Consciousness and Awareness" factor, and 0.801 for the "Economic Value" factor. In addition, Cronbach's Alpha was calculated as 0.884 for the overall scale. According to the findings, it can be said that this scale developed in the research is sufficient in terms of validity and reliability. However, in future studies, similar scales with confirmatory factor analysis can be developed and applied to large samples to examine participants' attitudes toward recycling.

Patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities generally have less access to necessary medical care compared to those without disabilities. Barriers to adequate care include patient fear and uncooperative behavior during routine medical procedures and inadequate preparation of medical professionals to treat this population. Researchers have identified multiple behavior-analytic procedures for promoting comfort and cooperation during medical treatments. Efficient, cost-effective training programs are needed to widely disseminate behavior-analytic procedures to medical students and professionals. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of a virtual training to prepare medical students to implement behavioral procedures that could be easily incorporated into typical wellness examinations. Seven medical students received behavioral skills training (BST) delivered remotely via the Internet. Results showed that the training successfully increased students' correct implementation of the procedures in roleplay with the experimenter and with patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Responding also maintained at high levels 2 weeks after the training. These findings suggest that virtual BST is an efficient, practical approach for training health care professionals to implement general behavior management strategies to increase the comfort and cooperation of patients with NDD.

This research analyzed the predictive effect of personality types on online unethical behaviors and the relationship between these two variables. Online unethical behaviors are discussed in terms of gender, educational level, and ethics course experience. The study group of the research conducted in the correlational survey model consisted of 269 female and 261 male university students studying at the associate and undergraduate levels. The research data were collected using the Five Factor Personality Scale and the Online Unethical Behavior Scale. Correlation, independent samples t-test, and stepwise regression analysis were used in the data analysis. As a result, agreeableness and conscientiousness personality types were found to predict online unethical behaviors. Further, the correlation analysis results indicated that all personality types except neuroticism had a negative and significant relationship with online unethical behaviors. Additionally, the t-test results suggest a significant relationship between gender and online unethical behaviors. Overall, the study concluded that there was no significant relationship in terms of ethics course experience and educational level. The findings were discussed within the literature framework, and suggestions are given.

Research on dynamic assessment (DA) has been conducted on the efficiency of either face-to-face (F2F) or mobile-assisted (MA) DA sessions. However, studies investigating the difference between these sessions conducted in the foreign language learning context are scarce. Thus, this study aims to explore the differences between F2F- and MA-DA sessions in terms of the mediator's mediational moves and learners' reciprocity behaviors. To this end, F2F- and MA-DA sessions were held with four tertiary-level learners. Then the mediational moves and reciprocity behaviors employed in these sessions were explored through qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the DA interactions between the mediator and the learner in F2F and MA contexts were generally not much different in terms of the mediational moves and reciprocity behaviours. However, it is noteworthy that the learners made more inaccurate responses and used L1 more in F2F-DA sessions. In contrast to this, the learners made more careful attempts in MA-DA sessions. Moreover, the teacher as a mediator tended to give more approval to the learners' responses to eliminate the disadvantage of the restricted context of MA-DA. In light of these findings, pedagogical implications were suggested for both language teachers and researchers.

Social networks integrate adolescent daily life by configuring modes of socialisation, negotiation and self-representation through different practices that operate as subjectivation resources and condition the gender experience. The objective of this study is to explore the production of selfies and videos among adolescents from Puebla (Mexico) and Galicia (Spain) from a gender, territorial, and sociocultural perspective. A survey study was carried out using an online questionnaire designed ad hoc and applied to 6,654 adolescents (14-17 years), with different gender identities, from public secondary schools in Puebla and Galicia. The results show that the selfie is a more widespread practice among adolescents than video, with revealing differences in its production. Similarities are evident in the level of preparation and the motivations that lead to these practices. Gender differences are found in their production in terms of intentions, materialities, and body expression. The family's sociocultural level and the territory are visualised as realities that affect the production of these practices. The conclusions point to a transition of knowledge and meanings between the selfie and video and the relevance of analysing gender experience on social networks in light of the forms of power they exercise there.

The presence of cyberspace in the lives of young people is such that we can no longer distinguish between online and offline spheres. They live a process of onlife development that is not always equitable in terms of gender. This paper aims to account for the online behaviour of Spanish adolescents according to gender and age, the decisions they make when constructing their virtual identity, and the effects that this has on them. A quantitative study has been carried out at a national level (N=2,076, 12-18 years old) following a non-experimental ex post facto design by means of a survey study. The results show that there are gender differences in the preference for one or other social network. A high percentage of girls make different choices when it comes to their online presence. Unlike boys, girls state that their virtual self and their behaviour significantly influence the opinion that they have of themselves and their need to feel integrated. In conclusion, the decisions that adolescents make when creating their virtual selves do not only have negative consequences derived from poor management, but are also plagued by mandates and stereotypes that determine how they should be and what they should do online; something that is especially pressing for girls.

Mathematical dispositions, or an individual's behavioral (i.e., things they say and do), cognitive (i.e., attention and memory), and affective (i.e., emotions and beliefs) tendencies related to mathematics, are critical to the learning of mathematics and choices related to STEM. Previous research has suggested that adult learners may possess unproductive mathematical dispositions, such as high math anxiety and low math self-efficacy. This paper argues that unproductive mathematical dispositions may serve as a barrier to adult learners' STEM choices and provides strategies and techniques to help move adult learners towards productive mathematical dispositions and potentially stronger attraction to STEM fields.

The objective of the present research is to examine the factor structure of the Interpersonal Behavior Questionnaire (IBQ) and the Interpersonal Behavior Self Questionnaire (IBQ-Self) in the sport context. Confirmatory factor analyses were used to assess the psychometric properties and measurement invariance across sex and sports. For the IBQ, a sample of 813 Portuguese athletes aged between 15 and 32 years (M = 23.46; SD = 4.92) took part in this study. They had an average sports experience of approximately 7.62 ± 3.23 years. For the IBQ-Self, a sample of 606 Portuguese coaches aged between 20 and 73 years (M = 34.43; SD = 11.56) participated in this study. Both scales demonstrated good fit, achieved convergent and discriminant validity, exhibited acceptable internal consistency, and demonstrated invariance across sex and sports. Regarding the analysis of psychometric properties, the IBQ and IBQ-Self can be applied to Portuguese athletes and their coaches to measure perceived behaviors of others and self-reported behaviors.

The COVID-19 pandemic has markedly reshaped people's language behaviour on social media and may beget varying interactive possibilities in the online environment. From a perspective of the virtual linguistic landscape, this enquiry looks into the dynamic and multilingual nature of the geotagged social media content by situating this issue in the context of the pandemic. An additional aim is to explore in what way the pandemic has influenced the form of this linguistic landscape. To achieve these goals, the enquiry collects and analyses over 90,000 posts on Instagram from three sites in Dublin, Ireland, between 2019 and 2021, using a set of established computational approaches from the field of natural language processing as well as diversity indices from ecology. The results picture a dynamic mechanism of the virtual linguistic landscape in Dublin over the COVID-19 pandemic, in which linguistic richness and diversity were revealed. This richness and diversity, according to our analysis, were beset by the pandemic associated with a decrease in online activities at the research sites.

Purpose: This research paper aims to evaluate the sustainability knowledge and background of students, staff and faculty regarding current university sustainability practices and individual behaviors at Central Michigan University (CMU); to compare sustainability background and knowledge based on academic discipline of enrollment or employment; and to assess sustainability awareness and interest of the campus community to guide future sustainability initiatives and resources at CMU. Design/methodology/approach: An electronic cross-sectional survey was used to collect anonymous responses through Qualtrics, and then results were analyzed through SPSS. Analyses were performed based on the academic structures at CMU. Findings: This research has found that students in STEM fields are more inclined to have pro-sustainability attitudes, knowledge and behaviors, compared to those studying the arts and business. Additionally, results indicate that there is a significant difference in knowledge between the students, and the staff and faculty respondents regarding sustainability knowledge and application, with the staff and faculty consistently demonstrating more pro-sustainability knowledge and behavior. Originality/value: While research has previously been conducted on sustainability attitudes and behaviors, this research is unique because it ties sustainability knowledge to academic discipline. Additionally, it serves to gauge which sustainability programs and topics members of the campus community are most interested in, and which areas they are most willing to support.

Longitudinal changes in trusting behavior across adolescence and their neural correlates were examined. Neural regions of interest (ROIs) included the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC), left anterior insula (AI), bilateral ventral striatum (VS), and right dorsal striatum (DS). Participants (wave 1 age: M = 12.90) played the investor in a Trust Game with an uncooperative trustee three times (1-year interval). Analyses included 77 primarily Dutch participants (33 females). Participants decreased their investments with wave. Furthermore, activity was heightened in mPFC, dACC, and DS during investment and repayment, and in right VS (investment) and AI (repayment). Finally, DS activity during repayment increased with wave. These findings highlight early-middle adolescence as an important period for developing sensitivity to uncooperative behavior.

Youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often experience difficulties related to aggression, disruptive behavior, and regulation of emotions that precipitate these behaviors (i.e., anger). The extent to which aggression, disruptive behaviors, and anger dysregulation are correlated with distinct or overlapping factors has not yet been explored. The present study examined whether aspects of participant demographics, individual youth functioning, caregiver stress, and family warmth contributed to youth aggression, disruptive behavior, and anger dysregulation. Participants were caregivers of 511 youths with ASD. Analyses revealed that significant proportions of variance in aggression, disruptive behaviors, and anger dysregulation were accounted for by shared variables pertaining to demographics, the individual youth, and caregiver stress. Implications of treatment and future research are discussed.

Sensory differences are included in the DSM-5 criteria of autism for the first time, yet it is unclear how they relate to neural indicators of perception. We studied early brain signatures of perception and examined their relationship to sensory behaviors and autistic traits. Thirteen autistic children and 13 Typically Developing (TD) children matched on age and nonverbal IQ participated in a passive oddball task, during which P1 habituation and P1 and MMN discrimination were evoked by pure tones. Autistic children had less neural habituation than the TD comparison group, and the MMN, but not P1, mapped on to sensory overresponsivity. Findings highlight the significance of temporal and contextual factors in neural information processing as it relates to autistic traits and sensory behaviors.

Introduction: Despite the plethora of sensor-based assistive technology solutions, there is still no widespread acceptance and adoption by people who are blind or have low vision (i.e., visually impaired). Many reasons prevent reducing abandonment levels with a prominent one being a lack of focus on the dimension of training, which, from our standpoint, is integral to the acceptance of assistive technologies. To prove the importance of training, we extend and validate a new version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model incorporating training as a factor. Methods: Closed- and open-ended questionnaires were given online and offline to 231 participants with visual impairments after conducting training sessions with an application for outdoor navigation by people with visual impairments developed by our research team. To assess the UTAUT extension exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model were employed to explore the relationships between the factors. A usability and user experience qualitative analysis supplemented the previous. Results: We uncovered that no factor besides performance expectancy (standardized regression weight = 0.264, p < 0.001) and training (standardized regression weight = 0.538, p < 0.001) significantly predict behavioral intention. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrated a significant interaction (p < 0.007) strengthening the positive relationship between training and behavioral intention (standardized regression weight = 0.142). The qualitative analysis showed an overall positive evaluation highlighting the application's usefulness and dependability. Discussion: An application's adoption increases if individuals who are visually impaired are properly trained and acquainted with the features in real-life scenarios and recognize the application's utility for their daily lives. Implications for Practitioners: Training plays an important role in technology acceptance. It can be leveraged to make solutions more appealing to people who are visually impaired.

Emergent-based practices of leadership development (such as intentional emergence (IE), case-in-point, or group relations) rely a great deal on stopping the action in order to publicly notice group behaviors and patterns and connect what is happening authentically to conscious actions and ideas (such as course content, readings, theories, etc.). However, when a facilitator or participant practices "stopping the action" and calling out these behaviors, there is a danger that they will go beyond productive tension into a level that causes casualties. This article explores the foundational need for compassion and purpose when using the common tools of heat and noticing in intentionally emergent spaces.

A plethora of research emphasizes the importance of performance feedback as an adaptive way to improve the outcomes of undergraduate students. However, research on negative performance feedback (i.e. communicating the results of a critical assessment related to student performance) and the potential unintended negative consequences remains fragmented and non-comprehensive. The current systematic review provides an integrative synthesis of the literature that details the unintended negative consequences of negative performance feedback on undergraduate students. It also identifies the contexts in which these consequences are more likely to occur. Using the 36 articles that fit the study's search criteria, we found negative effects on self-efficacy, cognition, affect, and behavior. These factors were moderated by the characteristics of the feedback provider and the feedback receiver, the feedback style, and demographic variables. Based on our review, we propose a new integrative model. This study contributes to the literature and practice of teaching and learning by providing educators with an up-to-date review of negative feedback. It also provides a multidisciplinary examination and identifies future research directions.

How to support young people's agency is a key question of sustainability education. Action competence for sustainability is suggested covering the essential components of youth's readiness to act both individually and collectively, but empirical tests of these associations are scarce. Therefore, this study explores the relationship between action competence and sustainability action among young people. We conducted a national survey of 15 to 29-year-old youths (N = 940) in Finland. Results of structural equation modeling show that self-perceived action competence for sustainability predicts private sphere behavior, but not sustainability action. Further analysis on the components of action competence reveals that high perceived knowledge and low outcome expectations predict low engagement in sustainability action. Knowledge and outcome expectations also affect behavior indirectly via willingness to act. We argue that actions and behaviors have different antecedents, and that the ability to recognize outcome uncertainty affects how young people's sustainability agency is manifested.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate clustering methods within a functional data analysis (FDA) framework for identifying subgroups of individuals that may be exhibiting categories of misfit. Person response functions (PRFs) estimated within a FDA framework (FDA-PRFs) provide graphical displays that can aid in the identification of persons that have responded unexpectedly to items comprising an achievement test. Typical person fit statistics are also useful for detecting unexpected response patterns, but they do not provide insight into the underlying behaviors responsible for those responses. However, different responding behaviors tend to produce FDA-PRFs of different shapes, and may provide additional information regarding the reasons for misfit. Functional clustering methods are useful for categorizing respondents into subgroups based on the shapes of their FDA-PRFs. In this study, a small simulation illustrates the potential of clustering FDA-PRFs for identifying persons displaying common types of responding behaviors. The methodology is also applied to data from a high school biology assessment and a mathematics achievement test. Clustering FDA-PRFs offers a promising methodology for operationalizing person fit evaluations in large-scale assessments, and may be a valuable step in person fit assessment when used in conjunction with traditional indices of psychometric quality.

Whether to intervene or not during a bullying situation influences how the interaction plays out. The researchers present a theoretical model of social dominance orientation, moral disengagement, and intervention self-efficacy vis-à-vis intervention behaviors. Data were collected from 284 Israeli Hebrew speaking adolescents. Participants were recruited using a snowball sampling technique. The results of structural equation modeling reveals that moral disengagement was a mediator between the association of social dominance orientation with the pro-bully bystander and outsider behaviors. Pro-bully bystander and victim-defender behaviors positively influenced the outsider behavior, and self-efficacy was related to the victim-defender behavior. Our results expand the understanding of the relationship between bystander intervention behaviors and motivational factors.

The artificial intelligence methods might be applied to see through the education problems, and make effective prediction and decision. The transformation from data to decision are inseparable from the learning analytics. In order to solve the dynamic multi-objective decision problems, a decision learning algorithm is designed to analyze the learning behavior and learning achievement based on the particle swarm optimization mechanism, which ensures the global optimization of data analysis. Compared with the performance indicators of several approximate algorithms, this algorithm has the advantage of association analysis, which improves the accuracy and robustness; Furthermore, three tested problems are constructed by GeoDa tool, and through data training and analysis, the dynamic multi-objective decision rules are obtained. The whole research can provide theoretical and technical support for other related or similar issues.

Previous research has shown that the utilization of electronic devices with internet access has increased rapidly over the past years. With that increase, comes the increased victimization of internet users from cyberbullies. However, we do not know to what level that increase affected the cyberbullying rates in the UK. The current study assessed whether cyber-bullying incidents had increased in the UK during the lockdown period, mainly because of the skyrocketing of the social media use and other online platforms. Overall, the results of this study indicated that the prevalence of cyber-victimization and perpetration declined during the lockdowns when compared to pre-March 2020 rates, and cyber-bullying bystander behaviors increased during the pandemic. Further research is in need to examine the latter assumption. Implications and limitations are discussed.

This study examined young children's behaviour predictions in direct reciprocal prosocial situations. Participants aged 4-6 years (N = 60) listened to four stories that addressed the actor's previous behaviour (prosocial/non-prosocial) combined with the partner's behaviour (prosocial/non-prosocial). Then, they made predictions regarding the actor's future behaviour. Children's predictions of a prosocial actor's behaviour were consistent with the tit-for-tat strategy. Regarding the behavioural predictions of the actor who had behaved non-prosocially, children did not predict that the actor would repeat non-prosocial behaviour, even if the partner did not behave prosocially. When the partner behaved prosocially, children predicted that the non-prosocial actor would behave prosocially the next time. Young children assumed that a partner's generous response could influence the future behaviour of the actor who had not behaved prosocially to behave prosocially the next time.

This project, entitled B-FREE, was designed to develop personal and social skills in adolescents deprived of their liberty. The aim was to facilitate future social inclusion by transforming the participants' behaviour and self-responsibility for their actions, through Physical Education classes based on Hellison's Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility Model. We used a qualitative methodology under a constructivist philosophical worldview and an ethnography research design. Data was collected through observation records, adolescents self-assessment and key actors' observations. The results revealed evident improvements in the behaviours and attitudes of the adolescents, both in the Physical Education class and in their daily lives, confirming the adequacy and effectiveness of that teaching model to improve the detained adolescents' behaviours, through physical education.

Boredom has a bad reputation in higher education, as many negative outcomes are associated with this experience. But should boredom be avoided at all costs? Could boredom be guided towards more appropriate, even desirable outcomes -- such as creativity? Through making use of concept analyses to investigate current conceptualisations of boredom and creativity, this study investigated whether boredom and creativity may be linked conceptually. Conceptual overlaps were identified on a number of levels, and boredom's position in fostering creativity was situated. The findings herein suggest that investigating ways to develop boredom towards appropriate ends should receive greater attention in higher education research. Through a combination of individual attributes, an enabling educational environment and some pedagogical bravery in purposefully introducing boredom into the in-person classroom context, boredom may yet prove useful for fostering creativity within the higher education context.

Protective face masks were one of the central measures to counteract viral transmission in the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior research indicates that face masks impact various aspects of social cognition, such as emotion recognition and social evaluation. Whether protective masks also influence social avoidance behavior is less clear. Our project assessed direct and indirect measures of social avoidance tendencies towards masked and unmasked faces in two experiments with 311 participants during the first half of 2021. Two interventions were used in half of the participants from each sample (Experiment 1: protective face masks; Experiment 2: a disease prime video) to decrease or increase the salience of the immediate contagion threat. In the direct social avoidance measure, which asked for the deliberate decision to approach or avoid a person in a hypothetical social encounter, participants showed an increased willingness to approach masked as opposed to unmasked faces across experiments. This effect was further related to interindividual differences in pandemic threat perception in both samples. In the indirect measure, which assessed automatic social approach and avoidance tendencies, we neither observed an approach advantage towards masked faces nor an avoidance advantage for unmasked faces. Thus, while the absence of protective face masks may have led to increased deliberate social avoidance during the pandemic, no such effect was observed on automatic regulation of behavior, thus indicating the relative robustness of this latter behavior against changes in superordinate social norms.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the association between violent sexual victimization and muscle-building exercise among adolescents. Methods: Cross-sectional data from the 2019 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (N = 8408) were analyzed. Two indicators of non-dating-related sexual violence (lifetime, past 12 months), along with one indicator of adolescent sexual violence (past 12 months), were assessed. Days of muscle-building in the past week were reported. Multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine the associations between the three violent sexual victimization variables and muscle-building exercise. Results: Among the sample (50.3% girls), lifetime violent sexual victimization (relative risk ratio [RRR] 1.87, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.29 to 2.72), past 12-month violent sexual victimization (RRR 1.60, 95% CI 1.15 to 2.22), and past 12-month sexual dating violence (RRR 1.60, 95% CI 1.03 to 2.51) were associated greater relative risk of high engagement (i.e., 6 to 7 days) in muscle-building exercise relative to no engagement. Conclusions: A history of violent sexual victimization is associated with greater involvement in muscle-building exercise, particularly among adolescent girls. Engagement in muscle-building exercise in relation to violent sexual victimization may be a means of emotion regulation and occur due to body dissatisfaction resulting from experiencing violence.

A learner can autonomously acquire knowledge by experiencing the world, without necessarily being explicitly taught. The contents and ways of this type of real-world learning are grounded on his/her surroundings and are self-determined by computing real-world information. However, conventional studies have not modeled, observed, or understood a learner's self-regulation mechanism of real-world learning. This study developed computational learning analytics to estimate how this mechanism works. Our analytics segmented a time series of real-world learning into units of a cognitively closed and semantically independent function by estimating the spatiotemporal clusters of a learner's concentrated stay behavior. We found that learners' intercluster moves functioned to determine whether they maintained or changed their contents and strategies of real-world learning. We also found that the spatiotemporal sizes of the estimated clusters were correlated with the activeness and diversity of strategy-based content examinations at each location. This study forms a basis for automatically estimating qualitative transitions of real-world learning and encouraging a learner to obtain a better understanding of the world.

Physically inactive children in rural areas are overlooked in research because of the dominance of urban perspectives focusing on physical activity rather than inactivity. The aim of this article is to examine an emerging collective story of how physically inactive children (aged 9-11 years) in two rural areas experience their relationships with physical activity. Based on praxis-oriented sociocultural theorising, this study focuses on how practical physical activity is understood by rural children as part of their sociocultural environment. Five focus group interviews with 21 physically inactive rural children in western Sweden were conducted. Experiences and behaviours that the children emphasised as central to their inactivity were analysed as sociocultural expressions in a collective story about physical activity. To underline the importance of narratives for behaviour in the sociocultural environment, the collective story is presented through three composite narratives told by three fictional characters: 'Robin, the shy one', 'Kim, the farm kid', and 'Angry Alex'. Characteristic of these inactive rural children is a lack of self-confidence, a lack of meaning, and difficulties in managing social physical activities. Common to the behaviours that follow from the children's experiences is that they are perceived as deviating from what is expected of them in accordance with the cultural story about a physically active child. The analysis shows that the underlying cause is the discrepancy between the children's understanding of physical activity and the understanding conveyed via institutions informed by urban perspectives such as, for example, school. For instance, children view physical activity as part of daily labour at the same time that the school teaches physical activities intended for recreational purposes in spare time. Institutions should make room for more interpretations, including rural ones, of the meaning of physical activity and, thus, contribute to reconstructing the cultural narrative about physical activity.

Purpose: This paper aims to examine whether happiness at workplace (HAW) impacts organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and whether this impact can be further improved by promoting learning capabilities in organisations, thus investigating the mediating role of organisational learning capabilities (OLC). Design/methodology/approach: This study was conducted on knowledge-intensive workers (employees of EdTech companies) in India. Responses were collected via questionnaire in online mode, and after discarding the incomplete responses, 500 replies were considered for data analysis with PLS-SEM technique. Findings: The outcomes reveal that the HAW has a significant influence on OCB. The outcomes also reveal that this impact is further enhanced with the presence of OLC, thus confirming that OLC operates as a mediator in the link connecting HAW and OCB. Originality/value: This study makes a distinctive contribution by bringing out the significance of workplace learning in the connection between the workplace happiness and citizenship behaviour of employees that will provide impetus to the practitioners to formulate strategies in such a manner that the employees voluntarily perform the actions beyond their designated roles.

This study aiming to compare the effectiveness of Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) and Conductive Education (CE) approaches on motor skills, activity limitation and participation restrictions in children with Down Syndrome (DS). Twelve children were randomly assigned into two groups. Twelve-week CO-OP or CE intervention (period-1) followed by a 12-week washout period. Same interventions were crossed over for another 12 weeks (period-2). The Performance Quality Rating Scale (PQRS), Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and the Bruininks Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency Second Edition-Brief Form (BOT2-BF) were used for outcome measurements. CO-OP was effective in the improvement of task-specific activity performance, while both approaches have similar effects on the improvement of perceived performance, satisfaction, and motor skills performance.

The commonly used Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales (VABS-3) divides adaptive behavior into three domains comprising three subdomains. The validity of this three-factor structure has not been explored in autistic samples, which are often heterogeneous with respect to language and IQ. Furthermore, although there are two comparable forms, Comprehensive Interview Form and Comprehensive Parent/Caregiver Form (a questionnaire), the original validation was based on interview data. Considering the widespread use of the VABS-3 in autism research, and the increased feasibility of online-administered questionnaires, it is necessary to establish the validity of the Parent/Caregiver form in autistic individuals across a range of abilities. This study aimed to investigate the measurement invariance of the VABS-3 Parent/Caregiver form between a minimally verbal group and verbal group of autistic people; however, poor overall fit of the three-factor structure precluded invariance analyses. Subsequent analyses suggested poor fit in both language and age groups, as well as a unidimensional model. The results of the current study suggest that neither the three-factor or unidimensional model fit the VABS-3 Parent/Caregiver Form, thereby cautioning against interpretation of domain or overall adaptive behavior composite scores in autistic individuals and further encouraging careful consideration of administration format.

Stimulus-response binding and retrieval (SRBR) is a fundamental mechanism driving behavior automatization. In five experiments, we investigated the modulatory role of affective consequences (AC) on SRBR effects to test whether binding/retrieval can explain instrumental learning (i.e., the "law of effect"). SRBR effects were assessed in a sequential prime-probe design, with an orthogonal variation of response relation (response repetition vs. change) by distractor relation (word repetition vs. change). Binding/retrieval effects are measured by an interaction of the two factors, with distractor repetitions inducing a retrieval of the prime episode and a tendency to re-enact the previous response, which leads to facilitation in conditions where the response must be repeated, but leads to interference when the required response changes from prime to probe. Positive, neutral, or negative events signaling changes in points that were linked to monetary gains or losses were delivered after every trial to investigate whether AC modulate the binding/retrieval effect. Consistently across all five experiments (total N= 466), robust SRBR effects were obtained, but we did not find any evidence for an affective modulation of these binding/retrieval effects, indicating that these effects are automatic and independent of AC. In particular, Experiment 5 demonstrated a dissociation between instrumental learning via AC (reflected in higher frequencies of rewarded responses) and SRBR, which was not influenced by AC following a response.

Coaching is increasingly being used as a mechanism to improve the quality of early childhood education. Yet, for coaching outside of researcher-controlled interventions, limited information details coaches' reports of their practices' professional learning needs. We addressed this gap via an exploratory study utilizing online questionnaires of 91 coaches working with educators in a Midwestern US state across 12 coaching initiatives. Most participants had less than 5 years of experience working as an early childhood coach. Almost a third coached for multiple initiatives. Coaching occurred via multiple formats and often addressed behavior management and social emotional development regardless of the coaching initiative. Coaches identified challenges regarding scheduling and working with difficult learners and reported that peer support and being coached themselves were the most beneficial learning experiences. Findings suggest that the perspective of the coach is important in informing training and professional learning for both coaches and educators.

Research on factors underlying socioeconomic status (SES)-related inequalities in child development mainly focuses on single countries and specific influential factors. Only few studies scrutinize to what extent differences in children's early behavioural outcomes vary across countries and whether the processes that account for them are common or context-specific. The aim of this study was to explore SES-related inequalities and explanatory factors in 3- to 4-year-old children's externalising behaviour as well as their generalisability across outcome variables (hyperactivity, conduct problems) and countries. The study uses harmonised data from three longitudinal large-scale studies conducted in the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), and the Netherlands and a decomposition method to comparatively analyse early SES-related gaps and explanatory factors. Results show that the extent of parental education-related gaps varied across countries. The included explanatory factors accounted for significant amounts of gaps in hyperactivity and conduct problems. Yet, while family income and maternal depressive feelings significantly explained gaps in each facet of externalising behaviour across all three countries, other factors were country-specific. In the US and the UK, health-related factors were additionally relevant for explaining early gaps in both child outcomes; in the UK, also structural aspects of the family significantly explained gaps in conduct problems; no other factors contributed to the explanation of gaps in the Netherlands. Mechanisms that might reduce SES-related inequalities in child behaviour and that may be helpful when constructing appropriate interventions are partially similar, yet also significantly different between countries and child outcomes.

Previous research suggests that age-related differences in pro-environmental behavior (PEB) and the emotional reactions to climate change could originate from generational as well as aging effects and can be influenced by the opportunities and constraints of life circumstances and resources. The current research aimed to better understand age differences through examining the eco-emotions and PEBs of different age groups, and identifying latent groups differing on these variables. In Sample 1, adults from the general population (n = 4,685) filled out questionnaires assessing eco-anxiety, eco-guilt, and ecological grief and answered 12 questions about their PEBs. In Sample 2 (A), the same PEB questions were answered by high school students (n = 112) and in Sample 2 (P) by one of their parents (n = 112). There were no age differences in the overall PEB score, but we found significant, nonlinear differences between age groups in almost all individual PEBs. Eco-friendly clothing and using greener transport were more common in the younger age groups, while older age groups had higher scores in conservation, recycling, reduced meat consumption, and boycotting. Students were less likely to recycle, use reusable bags, eat less meat and save water than their parents, but more likely to use greener transportation. Five latent groups emerged on the eco-emotions and PEB measures. Young adults had a higher probability of belonging to the medium/higher anxiety groups than the older generations, except for those in their 70s. Groups with higher emotional concern showed higher behavioral involvement. Since most participants showed a moderate level of worry, this emotional reaction appears a normative response to the climate crisis and also a possible starting point for promoting PEBs. The findings also suggest that each generation has its preferences in terms of PEBs, and it is worthwhile to address each of the different PEBs separately.

Eye-tracking methodologies have revealed that eye movements and pupil dilations are influenced by our previous experiences. Dynamic fluctuations in pupil size during learning reflect in part the formation of memories for learned information, while viewing behavior during memory testing is influenced by memory retrieval and drawn to previously learned associations. However, no study to date has linked fluctuations in pupil dilation at encoding to the magnitude of viewing behavior at test. The current investigation involved monitoring eye movements both in single item recognition and relational recognition tasks. In the item task, all faces were presented with the same background scene and memory for faces was subsequently tested, whereas in the relational task each face was presented with its own unique background scene and memory for the face-scene association was subsequently tested. Pupil size changes during encoding predicted the magnitude of preferential viewing during test, as well as future recognition accuracy. These effects emerged only in the relational task, but not in the item task, and were replicated in an additional experiment in which stimulus luminance was more tightly controlled. A follow-up experiment and additional analyses ruled out differences in orienting instructions or number of fixations to the encoding display as explanations of the observed effects. The results shed light on the links between pupil dilation, memory encoding, and eye movement patterns during recognition and suggest that trial-level fluctuations in pupil dilation during encoding reflect relational binding of items to their context rather than general memory formation or strength.

Social networks are colonised by a culture of confession that turns teenager privacy into a commodity to achieve recognition and social acceptance. This display accelerates the porosity of the boundaries between the public and the private and feeds surveillance capitalism. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the empirical evidence on the public-private interaction of teenagers' contributions to social networks in the last 5 years in databases: Eric, Scopus and Web of Science. Based on the Prisma Statement, the initial search produced 1449 documents, of which 81 were included in the final analysis after the application of exclusion and inclusion criteria and the purging of duplicates. The results show a field of study developed with a decreasing trend in production in recent years, knowledge gaps and discordant findings. It is concluded the need to build solid knowledge and initiate new lines in the study of the issue in order to understand the exhibition of teenagers in social networks. It is points out the urgency of a training based on their own media practices and in digital literacy for a broad understanding of online privacy.

One's attachment style forms early in life and can aid in dealing with future setbacks. Equally, Coping and resilience are two specific psychological mechanisms that form how one deals with problems and recovers from stressful situations. These three concepts are well-known interrelated concepts within psychology but to what extent they overlap is still unclear. The present study investigated attachment, resiliency and coping using structural equation modeling. Participants (N = 390), aged between 9 and 12 y old, completed an paper survey including Experiences in Close Relationship-Revised questionnaire (ECR-RC-12), Resiliency Scales for Children & Adolescents (RSCA), and the Brief-CPE (Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced). Path analysis revealed strong associations between attachment and resiliency as well as strong associations between resiliency and coping. Specifically, the predictive value of anxious attachment on resiliency was seen for all three resiliency sub-scales. However, the predictive value of avoidance attachment on resiliency was only revealed for two of the resiliency sub-scales. The two resiliency protective factors (sense of mastery and sense of relatedness) have a positive predictive value for three coping strategies. Equally, the resiliency risk factor (emotional reactivity) also positively predicted two coping strategies. The current findings demonstrate clear associations between these three concepts. Equally, the theoretical connections are discussed in light of these findings. Equally, stemming from this study, clinical implications are discussed that can inform practice in terms of approaching psychopathologies from different angles (resilience, coping, and attachment) as well as, the development of coping and resilience skills in order to support healthy development.

Background: People with severe to profound intellectual disabilities experience similar or higher levels of depression than those with more mild intellectual disabilities. Yet, there is an absence of evidence about how to adapt existing psychological therapies for this population. Method: A behavioural activation intervention (BeatIt) for people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities was adapted for people with severe to profound intellectual disabilities and depression. Key considerations include: (i) beginning with a more in-depth assessment process; (ii) including the person in session activities and developing a relationship with them; (iii) formulation and the use of film to document the link between activity and mood; and (iv) addressing barriers to change at an individual and inter-personal level and considering how the carer could support the person's engagement in activity. Results: Successfully adapting BeatIt represents a first step towards gathering evidence about the effectiveness of behavioural activation for people with severe to profound intellectual disabilities.

As dance education has moved online, it is imperative to assess the learners' acceptance of e-learning. This research analyses the factors that may determine the utilization of digitalized dance education. The study is based on a sample of 215 online dance learners from 08 urban cities of India, using the UTAUT model framework. The authors have also introduced a new variable, online technology self-efficacy, in the model. The results of the statistical analysis revealed that the exogenous variables (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions and technology self-efficacy) have a significant influence on e-learning adoption. The study did not detect any difference in the intent to learn remotely that may stem from socio-demographic characteristics (gender, age and dance experience). The ensuing discussion and suggestions will help dance educators appreciate digital education adoption behaviour and foster successful migration to e-learning platforms that may support the future of performing arts businesses.

Purpose: Building on the theories of social learning and social information processing, this paper aims to examine the effect of green servant leadership (GSL) on green voice behavior among staff working in Qatari higher education. In this relationship, the climate for green initiative (CFGI) was used to act as a mediating mechanism. Design/methodology/approach: Data in this study were collected from 275 staff working in Qatari higher education. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. Findings: The results suggest that GSL positively influences green voice behavior, whereas CFGI mediated this link. Practical implications: The results can be beneficial to higher education pertaining to the importance of GSL in generating positive green behaviors such as green voice behavior. Furthermore, the results highlight the significant role CFGI plays in motivating such behaviors. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study that examines the link between GSL and green voice behavior in the higher education context. Furthermore, research on CFGI has received limited attention so far.

This study evaluated the appropriateness of scoring the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function--Preschool (BRIEF-P) using age-equivalent scores generated from multiple measures of cognition and language among school-age children with Down syndrome (DS). Subscale T scores for 95 children with DS were contrasted using standard scoring on the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function--Second edition (BRIEF-2; based on chronological age) to alternate scoring using the BRIEF-P (based on age equivalent) for patterns of subscale intercorrelations, differences in mean scores, and agreement on findings from clinical cut-off scores. Results with children with DS suggested using (1) the BRIEF-P for children ages 2-5 years old, (2) the BRIEF-2 with chronological-age scoring or the BRIEF-P with age equivalent scoring (with some caveats) for research on children ages 5-10 years old, and (3) the BRIEF-2 for children ages 11 and older.

Typically, leadership is identified as a key to constructing high-quality early childhood education services and creating provisions to promote children's successful outcomes. However, leadership does not occur in isolation. Organisational management scholars point out that success in organisations is mostly reliant on effective followers. Despite a long tradition of attention to the value of followership in organisational management literature, little attention is given to followership in early childhood education literature. This article reviews conceptualisations of followership from a broad body of literature from organisational management and higher education studies, and a small number of studies in early childhood education literature that mentioned followership. This small body of early childhood education literature is critiqued in connection with the broader body of literature. The analysis reveals three key themes concerning followership in early childhood education literature: the dominance of leader-centric ideas; a lack of conceptual clarity about the role and practices of followership; and early childhood educators' qualifications typically determine who follows and who leads. This review contributes to increased understandings of the potential value of followership theories and practices in early childhood education.

Co-regulation refers to warm, receptive, and supportive interactions between caregiver and child that provide guidance and modulation of the child's emotions, behaviours, and thoughts. This study identifies basic elements of co-regulation between parents and children in relatively well-functioning interactions. The data material consists of 24 video clips of eight dyadic parent-child relationships (child age = 2-8 years), drawn from the Marte Meo therapeutic method. The video analysis indicates that parental responses to an initiative, negotiation, and parental attunement emerge as basic elements and form part of a complex interplay with each other. The findings further imply that parental attunement represents a key element in defining the quality of the processes of initiation and negotiation between children and adults. The issue of balance between power/responsibility vested in adults and children's right to autonomy during these co-regulative interactions is also discussed. The paper ends with potential avenues for future research.

While technological advances have led to digital transformation in many higher education institutions (HEIs), digital divide, especially among students in developing nations, is becoming a growing concern. This study aims to investigate the use of digital technology among B40 students (students from the lower socioeconomic backgrounds) in Malaysian HEIs. Specifically, this study intends to investigate how perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, as well as gratification constructs significantly affect digital usage among B40 students in Malaysian HEIs. This study used the quantitative research method with an online questionnaire which received 511 responses. SPSS was employed for demographic analysis, while Smart PLS software was used for structural model measurements. This study was based on two theories: planned behaviour theory and uses and gratification theory. The results showed that perceived usefulness and subjective norms significantly influenced the digital usage of the B40 students. In addition, all three gratification constructs indicated a positive effect on the students' digital usage.

This ethnographic case study investigates one dual language (DL) program in the midwestern United States. Drawing on concepts of "The White Space" (Anderson, 2015) and spaces of multilingualism (Blommaert et al., 2005), it explores the social perceptions, actions, and normative sensibilities of young children in a DL program where people of color are "typically absent, not expected, or marginalized when present" (Anderson, 2015, p. 10). This study shows how students and teachers co-construct DL spaces and highlights how racially minoritized children resist, navigate, and (re)shape relationships in the White Space of the program. The article concludes by encouraging researchers and teacher educators to support DL teachers in their development of a critical consciousness to help them name and counteract inequities in DL programs.

Objective: The study explored the prospective relations between depression and approach-avoidance achievement goals of undergraduate students in China. Methods: 2473 full-time undergraduates reported their depression and achievement goals annually from the freshman to the senior year. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and cross-lagged models. Results: Students' achievement goals decreased gradually during the first 3 years but rose in the fourth year, and the avoidance goals appeared to be less prevalent than the approach goals over time. Depression was negatively associated with approach goals, whereas positively correlated with avoidance goals. Depression in the freshman and sophomore years resulted in more avoidance goals 1 year later, and the depressive problems in the junior year predicted the decline of approach goals in the senior year. Conclusions: The present study highlighted the deleterious effects of depression on the achievement goals of college students.

This study characterized the patterns and predictors of pre-post changes in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and intentions (KABBIs) among 641 youth who completed evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs. At follow-up, 64.0% of youth showed changes knowledge, communication, and attitudes; 22.5% showed changes in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, communication, and increased sexual intentions; and 13.6% showed changes in attitudes and decreased sexual intentions. The strongest predictors of changes were youth baseline KABBI scores, mode of delivery, and number and type of adaptations made to the curricula. Results underscore the importance of examining the role of youth and program characteristics in predicting KABBI change patterns.

The family has a key role in the obesity management of children with autism. This study examines the relationship between the nutrition-physical activity behaviors of autistic children with their families and children's obesity levels during COVID-19 pandemic. The descriptive and cross-sectional study involved 80 parents of autistic children. A positive correlation was found between children's mean BMI values before and during the pandemic (p = 0.000). Family Nutrition and Physical Activity Scale (FNPAS) and Brief Autism Mealtime Behavior Inventory (BAMBI) score were 55.18 ± 7.86 and 31.76 ± 8.79, respectively. In addition, it was found that 32.5% of the children ate more than before the pandemic, 50.0% engaged in less physical activity, and 16.3% didn't do any physical activity. The study results suggesting the risk of obesity.
